CHAT GUIDLINES & ONLINE SPORTSMANSHIP
- Chat is optional. You may even disable chat entirely if you wish.
- Chat histories are saved with the games and can be monitored by logging into your child's account. (Other users cannot view the chats.)
- You may want to limit your chat to specific comments about the game like I expected Nf6 x e4 ~ or ~ Your Q is threatened ~ or ~ I thought you would take my rook
- Compliment good moves.
- After the game, thank your opponent for playing.
- Click the disable chat link above the chat box on your game page if your opponent says anything inappropriate.
TIPS
- For online chess it is helpful to allow 14 days per move. ( You can always move more frequently while having the flexibility to spend a week on a remote island w/o internet access and not lose on time.)
- You can download and save pgn and fen files of your games. Games are available for 30 days with a free, basic account.
- When playing a game, you may prefer to click on the moves tab to see the algebraic notation as you play, or the details tab to see captured pieces.
